Summary:
The Vice President of Operations/General Manager will oversee daily operations, including customer service, manufacturing, and product development, for our client, a furniture manufacturer.
Reporting to the President, this role requires a strong manufacturing background with a business mindset.
The VP/General Manager will collaborate closely with the Sales team to support the company's initiatives and strategies.
PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
Work with company officers and senior staff to implement long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives related to furniture manufacturing.
Manage and supervise operations functions, striving for world-class quality, delivery, and cost efficiency; redefine goals and objectives as needed to improve performance.
Develop and implement the annual business plan and strategy to achieve financial objectives.
Lead the operations teams in adopting lean/continuous improvement methods and establishing a culture of continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of pride and ownership among all associates.
Implement best sourcing practices and lead cost savings projects.
Develop guidelines for best practices and standard processes to drive long-term value.
Establish procedures for maintaining high manufacturing standards and product quality.
Oversee department managers and ensure compliance with manufacturing and safety procedures.
Act as a liaison between different management levels to facilitate effective communication and decision-making.
Oversee the maintenance of machinery, equipment, and building.
Take timely corrective actions in accordance with company policy and regulations.
Identify and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and monitor scrap and rework data.
Direct and coordinate various essential manufacturing programs (e.
g.
, training, safety, cost reduction).
Initiate and coordinate major projects to improve operations (e.
g.
, plant layout changes, capital equipment installation).
Stay informed about relevant information and technology to drive innovation and ensure compliance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &
Experience:
Extensive experience in manufacturing-based technology, processes, and principles.
Proficiency in process improvement, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and quality fields.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or a related discipline.
10
years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations or related industry.
At least 5 years of experience in managing the manufacturing process.
Experience in overseeing the P&L of a company.
DESIRABLES:
Furniture industry experience.
